Heating is via a small, generic
wood stove. We also have a radiant tube system (pex) in the floor that operates
via the solar thermal collectors and the domestic water heater (standard
propane tank). We expect to replace that water heater with a point of use
unit at some point. A 100 gallon Steibel/Eltron storage tank holds several
days of solar heated water and enables us to shut off our propane back up
heater from May thru October. Additionally, we plan to install electric
elements in the storage tank to take advantage of our excess energy generated
by the Bergey wind generator. This will reduce propane usage to only that
used by our 1931 Kalamazoo Peerless combination cook range. |
